As kids, we are taught to be kind to one another. We are taught to share. We are taught to help each other and be thoughtful and considerate towards one another.
But nobody notices that each one of our basic moral values contradict reality. Yes, we are taught to be kind, but that teaching doesn’t stop anyone from saying something ugly to a person they know nothing about. Yes, we are taught to be giving and selfless, but that teaching doesn’t stop anyone from prioritising of their own want over someones basic necessity. And yes, we are taught to be considerate about one another and help each other, but that very moral value does not stop anybody from turning a healthy competition into a lethal and stressful one.
Do you see the beauty of it? Our morals, our values, they contradict reality. And even though we humans have a tendency to let our greed take over our mind, knowing this very fact, we still believe the world can be turned into a better place. We choose to believe it. And that right there is beautiful.
